Uganda Crested Cranes striker Sandra Nabweteme has joined Israel Premier League side Hapoel Ironic Petah Tikva.
This will be her second stint in Europe where she previously played for Thor/Ka FC and Fimleikafelag Hafnarfjardar FC in Iceland last year.

A ‘Kid from Katwe’, Nabweteme started her football journey at the age of five and played with the local boys teams until she turned 14 years old and joined Kawempe Muslim Senior Secondary school where she continued to play football.
She made her name at Kawempe Muslim, helping the team to win two FUFA Women Elite League titles (2014/15 and 2015/16) where she was the top scorer with 17 and 23 goals respectively.
She was also named the FUFA Female footballer of the year in 2015 before moving to the USA the following year.
In March 2021, after her studies at the South West Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in USA, Nabweteme signed her first professional contract when she joined Thor/Ka FC (Iceland) on a two-year deal.
However, she was later loaned to Fimleikafelag Hafnarfjardar FC in July 2021 for the rest of the season after scoring 3 goals in 7 league games at Thor/Ka FC.
Meanwhile, the former Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC striker was very instrumental as Uganda won the 2022 CECAFA Women’s Championship and she registered five goals during the tournament.
She also scored one goal in the just concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco as Uganda drew 2-2 with Burkina Faso.
