Achomo Lucky and Meghan Mukulu delivered when it mattered most, combining for Seeta High’s final 11 points to inspire a dramatic 53-51 victory over Kampala University and keep the 2026 FUBA Division One women’s finals alive.

Facing the prospect of falling 3-0 behind in the best-of-five series, Seeta produced a determined late fightback to secure their first win of the finals. Kampala University had entered Game Three with victories of 48-43 and 53-47 in the opening two games, hoping to move closer to the championship, but Seeta refused to let the series slip away.

Seeta made the brighter start, taking an 11-7 lead in the opening quarter as Bilha Akinyi contributed nine points. Kampala University responded emphatically in the second period, scoring 18 points while restricting Seeta to nine to establish a 25-20 half-time advantage.

The University side carried that momentum into the third quarter, stretching its lead to 10 points through a three-pointer by Rose Musundi and a lay-up from Betty Nassanga. Seeta, however, found renewed energy through Christine Namyalo, who sank three three-pointers on her way to scoring 13 points in the period. Akinyi added two more shots from beyond the arc as Seeta fought back, cutting the deficit to three points at 43-40 heading into the final quarter.

With five minutes remaining, Kampala University held a 46-42 advantage and appeared well placed to close out the game. Seeta responded with eight unanswered points to seize a four-point lead with two minutes left, shifting the pressure back onto their opponents in a tense finish.

Kampala University fought back through Victoria Nalwanga’s crucial three-pointer, followed by a lay-up from Musundi that briefly put the University side one point ahead. Achomo then stepped up to restore Seeta’s lead with just over a minute remaining, while Kampala University failed to find another basket as Seeta held on for the narrow victory.

Achomo contributed six points and one assist during the final five minutes, while Mukulu added five points and two assists as the pair combined to produce the decisive finish. Their late contribution proved crucial in a game where Seeta had to recover from a 10-point deficit and withstand a late Kampala University surge.

Namyalo led Seeta with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Akinyi played the entire game to finish with 16 points, six steals, five rebounds and three assists. Achomo completed a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, alongside three assists, while Mukulu’s five points all came during the decisive closing stages.

For Kampala University, Musundi led the scoring with 16 points and eight rebounds. Tasha Goi Akima added 12 points and three rebounds, while Gloria Ayaa dominated the boards with 25 rebounds and contributed six points.

The victory gives Seeta renewed belief ahead of Game Four on Wednesday, when Kampala University will look to halt their opponents’ momentum and move closer to the title. Seeta, meanwhile, will aim to level the series and force a decisive fifth game.

Seeta have played the last two games without key player Kristine Stephanie, whose possible return could provide a further boost as they pursue a comeback. Both teams have already secured promotion to the 2027 National Basketball League, but the Division One crown remains undecided, with Wednesday’s encounter set to carry significant weight in the title race.
