Kitara FC have continued to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season after unveiling experienced midfielder Nicholas Kasozi as their latest signing during the ongoing transfer window.
The highly-rated midfielder joins the Royals on a two-year contract as a free agent following the expiration of his stay with Tanzanian side Kagera Sugar.
Kasozi’s arrival at Kitara marks a familiar reunion with head coach Wasswa Bbosa, who has previously worked with the midfielder at SC Villa, Express FC and Gaddafi FC. Their long-standing relationship is expected to ease Kasozi’s transition into the team as Kitara prepare for a demanding domestic and continental campaign.
The midfielder first rose to prominence in Ugandan football with SC Villa in 2017, where his composed displays and tireless work rate quickly earned widespread recognition. He later enjoyed spells with KCCA FC and Kyetume FC before taking his career to Tanzania with Kagera Sugar, adding valuable international experience to his résumé.
Kasozi becomes the latest addition to a busy recruitment drive by Kitara, who are assembling a formidable squad ahead of their maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign. The Hoima-based club secured continental football after lifting the Uganda Cup and is determined to build a team capable of competing on both the domestic and African stage.
The Royals have already strengthened several departments of the squad with the arrivals of Ghanaian defender Christopher Bonney, Martin Kizza, Jackson Ssembatya and Diego Misi Semugera.
Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa has also completed his move from Welwalo Adigrat University and is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming days.
As new faces arrive, Kitara have also reshaped their squad by parting company with Shaban Muhammad, Yunus Sibira, Sadiq Ssekyembe, Amir Kakomo, James Alitho, Aziz Saleh, Frank Kasumba and Eric Tumwine.
The departures reflect the club’s ambition to build a competitive squad capable of sustaining success both in the Uganda Premier League and on the continental stage.
With an experienced midfielder now added to their ranks and further reinforcements already secured, Kitara continue to signal their intent ahead of what promises to be one of the most important seasons in the club’s history.
