Injury concerns have struck the Uganda U20 Women’s National football team as they prepare to take on South Africa in the third round of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Three key players are now looking doubtful for tomorrow’s game at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende , and it could be a race against time to have them fit for this much anticipated first leg clash with the return leg expected to take place in South Africa after two weeks.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC midfielder Nalugya missed the team’s friendly games against She Corporate and Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals while Margaret Kunihira missed the team’s final practice game against She Corporate that was played on Monday at Makerere University Business School.

Meanwhile, Captain Fauzia Najjemba picked up a knock during the first half of the team’s last practice match against Corporate but the Uganda U20 Women’s National football team head coach Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi is very optimistic the trio will be able to take part in tomorrow’s game.

The aforementioned players were very influential as the Uganda U20 Women’s National team eliminated neighbours Kenya from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers thanks to a 10-3 aggregate win after the first and second leg played at Nyayo International stadium and St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende respectively.
