Gomba officials’ vehicle that was involved in a nasty accident

Gomba Ssaza football team officials Mansoor Kabugo and Denis “Deman Denol” Kizito are out of danger after surviving a nasty car accident yesterday.

Kabugo, the chairman of Gomba Ssaza football team and owner (director) of one of the most successful football academies in Uganda, Kampala Junior Team (KJT) based in the slums of Katwe came close to meeting his creator when the car he was travelling in alongside his fellow Gomba official on their way back to Gomba was involved in an accident and was terribly damaged.

Kabugo survived with injuries and rushed to the hospital for treatment and later discharged whilst his colleague Denis “Deman Denol” Kizito, the assistant coach of the Gomba Ssaza team, a former Kajjansi United head coach was terribly injured in the accident which left him with a fractured arm.

Kabugo and Denis Kizito are some of the officials at Gomba Ssaza football team with a task of implementing the team’s plans and strategies in the forthcoming Masaza Cup tournament as Gomba eyes their fifth trophy since the revival of this Buganda Kingdom inter-county championship in 2004.

Other officials include head coach Ibrahim Kirya, a former coach at URA, Nyamityobora and Wakiso Giants, Mubarak Kiberu(goalkeeping coach), Leo Ssekamatte (Technical member),Sadik Muhammed Akii(team doctor)and Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza ( the chairperson of the technical committee) among others.

Gomba Lions are the record holders of the Masaza Cup football tournament after winning four titles that is 2007, 2009, 2014, and 2017 however, they failed to go past group stages last season and their target will be to win this year’s championship.
