Uganda Premier League side Lugazi FC have completed the signing of versatile winger and right-back Frank Mulimi from SC Villa on a two-year contract, adding another experienced player to their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The highly rated player becomes one of the latest arrivals at the club as head coach Abbey Kikomeko continues to shape his team for the new campaign. Mulimi has already joined his new teammates and is taking part in pre-season preparations as Lugazi lay the foundation for a competitive season.
Known for his ability to operate effectively both as a winger and a right-back, Mulimi brings flexibility, pace, and valuable top-flight experience to the Lugazi squad. His arrival is expected to strengthen the team’s options on the right side of the pitch as the club seeks to improve its performance in the Uganda Premier League.
After completing his transfer, Mulimi expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter with Lugazi FC, praising the club’s organisation and ambitions. The former SC Villa player revealed that he was impressed by the direction the club is taking and is determined to contribute towards achieving better results.
“I am pleased with this move. I am impressed with the project here and I love the organisation at this club. I have come to work harder because I believe that’s the only way this team can get better results,”
Mulimi said.
The 24-year-old further explained that his familiarity with several members of the Lugazi setup will make his transition smoother. Having previously worked with some of the players and the technical team, Mulimi believes he can quickly adapt to the club’s style and immediately focus on helping the team achieve its objectives.
“I am familiar with most of the players here, including the coach, and that will make it easy for me to hit the ground running,”
he added.
Mulimi arrives at Lugazi with significant Uganda Premier League experience, having previously represented Gaddafi FC, currently known as Entebbe UPPC FC, and SC Villa. His journey through different levels of Ugandan football has helped him develop into a reliable and versatile player capable of competing at the highest domestic level.
During his five-year spell at Gaddafi FC, Mulimi played a key role in the club’s impressive rise through the Ugandan football pyramid. He was part of the team that progressed from regional football to the FUFA Big League and later achieved promotion to the Uganda Premier League between 2019 and 2024.
His performances at Gaddafi earned him a move to SC Villa ahead of the previous season, where he featured for one of Uganda’s most successful clubs. Mulimi made 10 league appearances for the Jogoos and found the back of the net once as he gained further experience at the top level.
Before making his mark in senior football, Mulimi honed his talent at Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) and Iganga Parents Secondary School (IPA). The two institutions played a crucial role in his early development, providing him with the platform to progress into professional football.
The signing of Mulimi underlines Lugazi FC’s ambition to assemble a strong and competitive squad ahead of the upcoming Uganda Premier League season.
With the new campaign scheduled to begin in late August, the club will be hoping that his experience, versatility, and work ethic will play a significant role in their pursuit of success.
