Gabriel now becomes the latest player to exit the Kasasiro Boys during the current transfer window, joining a growing list of departures in the current transfer window.
Brazilian Forward João Gabriel Esteves Cardoso has officially parted ways with KCCA FC following the mutual termination of his contract, marking the conclusion of a three-year spell with the Kasasiro Boys.
His exit brings to an end a journey that began with high expectations and moments of promise, but ultimately unfolded amid challenges that shaped his time at Lugogo in different ways.
The Brazilian forward confirmed his departure through his official social media platforms, where he penned a deeply emotional farewell message. In his statement, Gabriel expressed heartfelt appreciation to the club’s management, his teammates, and the loyal supporters who stood by him throughout his stay, describing his time at KCCA FC as a meaningful chapter in his professional career and personal life.
Gabriel had previously signed a contract extension in 2025 that was expected to keep him at the club until 2027, signaling long-term commitment between both parties. However, in a mutual understanding reached ahead of the new campaign, the agreement was terminated with one year still remaining, allowing both the player and the club to move in different directions as the transfer window progresses.
“Today, I say goodbye to the club that welcomed me, believed in me and gave me the opportunity to live a dream I once only imagined.
We shared days of struggle, overcoming, joy and lessons that will stay with me for life. Every training session, every match, every cheer and every staff member were part of my growth.
To all my teammates, the technical staff and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for your daily support, professionalism and friendship. You were essential on this journey.
And most of all, to the fans: you are the heart of KCCA FC. Your support pushed me further in both the best and toughest moments. You made me feel at home from day one.
I’ll carry unforgettable memories, the certainty that I always gave my best, and the pride of having worn this shirt.
This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later“.
João Gabriel’s Farewell Message
During his spell at Lugogo, Gabriel was widely regarded as a player with potential and quickly earned admiration from sections of the club’s supporters for his attacking instincts and dedication on the pitch. However, his progress was frequently disrupted by injuries and limited opportunities, which hindered his ability to consistently break into the starting lineup and fully establish himself as a key figure in the squad.
Before arriving at KCCA FC, Gabriel had developed his early career through notable football environments, including Flamengo’s U20 side in Brazil and a stint with German outfit FCA Darmstadt. These experiences contributed to his technical foundation and professional growth, preparing him for the demands of top-flight football in different competitive settings.
Gabriel now becomes the latest player to exit the Kasasiro Boys during the current transfer window, joining a growing list of departures that includes Sharif Ssengendo, who has signed for Entebbe UPPC, and midfielder Joel Sserunjogi, who recently completed a move to Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC on a three-year contract, underlining a period of significant squad transition at the club.
