

The 2022 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Boys football championship is into its final stages, with the race between Uganda’s Elite schools to get their hands on the trophy approaching a conclusion after a rigorous action in Arua .
Record champions Kibuli SS were dumped out in the semi finals , as were Wakiso district champions Buddo SS , but 9-time winners St. Mary’s SS Kitende and debutants St. Andrew Kaggwa HS Gombe remain in the hunt for glory.
There have been plenty of ups and downs before the final, from the group stages, round of 16,quarterfinals and semifinals, but when will the ultimate decider take place?

WHICH TEAMS ARE IN THE FINAL ?
The 2022 USSSA National Boys football championship final will see St. Mary’s SS kitende play St. Andrew Kaggwa HS Gombe.
The two teams contesting for the trophy were confirmed on Thursday 28th April 2022 , when the semi-final games were played.
St Mary’s SS kitende defeated record champions Kibuli SS to book their place in the final.
Kcca FC midfielder Dominic Ayella gave Kibuli an early lead following a goal keeping error by Jack Komakech before Rogers Torach levelled the matters from the penalty spot after a foul on Charles Lwanga in the forbidden area.
St. Mary’s SS Kitende doubled their lead when Kibuli defender Dawson Mafumu scored into his own net before they extended their lead with yet another own goal after Najib Yiga’s effort hit the post before it went in the back of the net off a Kibuli defender to make it 3-1 in favour of the Edward Golola coached side.
Meanwhile, in a dramatic second Semi-final, St. Andrew Kaggwa HS Gombe overcame Buddo SS thanks to Oscar Mawa’s brace.


The SC Villa forward scored his first goal from the spot before he superbly sent the debutants St.Andrew Kaggwa into their first ever final in stoppage time and also extended his goal tally for the campaign to 11 goals.
Buddo finished the game with 9 men following two red cards from Ogwang Benson and skipper Innocent Media.
Ogwang was sent off for a dangerous foul in the first period while Innocent Media was shown marching orders due to indiscipline after attacking the referee in the closing stages of the game.
VENUE AND TIME
The final will kick off at 3:PM and Barifa stadium, the home ground of Startimes Uganda premier league outfit Arua Hill SC is the venue for the final.
