

Uganda U20 Women’s National Football Team Head Coach, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi has named the final squad of 20 players that will travel to Johannesburg, South Africa for his team’s crunch FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers showdown against South Africa on Friday, 17th December 2021 at Dobsonsville Stadium in the second leg of the third round of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
The tactician initially named a strong provisional squad that travelled to Tanzania for a friendly game his charges managed to win thanks to Hadijah Nandago’s 18th minute strike but has whittled the group down to the final 20 with seven players missing out.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC custodian Diana Natukunda, Phiona Nabulime (Devine Soccer Academy), Zaituni Namaganda (Taggy High School FC),Joweria Nagadya (Lady Doves FC), Kamuyati Naigaga (Taggy High School), Ronah Regina Nantege (She Corporate FC) and Olivia Babirye (Lady Doves FC) have been left out of the final traveling squad.
Meanwhile, Striker Juliet Nalukenge who plies her trade at Chrysomolia FC on loan from Apollon Ladies FC and scored a hat trick over the weekend is part of the squad having joined the team yesterday.
“I think these are the best players we have selected to go and do the job. I have the belief that the squad selected is competent to help us secure the result we want,”

Uganda registered a 1-0 home triumph over South Africa’s Basetsana at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende thanks to Hadijah Nandago’s 19th minute header off a Margaret Kunihira corner kick.
The team will depart Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday morning (2:45AM) aboard Ethiopian Airways E809 and expected to touch base in Johannesburg on Wednesday at 1:05PM.
The winner on aggregate between Uganda and South Africa will progress to the fourth round where they will face either Ghana or Zambia.
For starters , Africa as a continent will have two representatives at the final of the Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup that will be held in Costa Rica in 2022.
The tournament, staged every two years, will see sixteen nations compete against each other for top honours. With continental qualification pathways leading to an exciting finals event, the competition has seen four past champions: USA, Germany, Japan and Korea DPR. Japan are the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018.
