Express FC midfielder Marvin Nyanzi has confirmed his departure from the Red Eagles as he prepares to complete a move to Uganda Premier League rivals URA FC in the ongoing transfer window.
The attacking midfielder’s exit marks the end of his brief but memorable spell at Wankulukuku, where he featured in the club’s colours during the second half of the season.
Nyanzi joined Express FC during the mid-season transfer window as a free agent, signing a two-year contract after becoming available on the market. The creative midfielder was brought in to add more attacking flair, composure, and versatility to the Red Eagles’ midfield department as the club looked to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the campaign.
Confirming the end of his chapter at Express FC, Nyanzi took to social media to express his appreciation for the opportunity and the experiences gained during his time with the historic club.
The midfielder thanked the Red Eagles for the memories created and acknowledged the support he received throughout his stay at Wankulukuku.
“Grateful for the chapter that has ended at Express FC. Thank you, and I’ll always appreciate the memories,”
Nyanzi wrote in a farewell message shared on his official Twitter account.
During his time with Express FC, Nyanzi made 14 appearances across competitions and managed to score one goal. Despite spending only a short period at the club, the midfielder showcased glimpses of his individual brilliance, with his technical ability, creativity, and attacking instincts standing out in several performances.
Before joining Express FC, Nyanzi had already built a reputation as one of the exciting attacking midfielders in Ugandan football. He previously featured for Kitara FC and Wakiso Giants, where he gained valuable Uganda Premier League experience and continued to develop his game as a key creative presence in the middle of the park.
The midfielder first attracted attention through his performances for Kajjansi United before making a name for himself in the Masaza Cup, representing Buddu County. His displays in the popular regional tournament helped announce his potential and opened the door for opportunities at the top level of Ugandan football.
Nyanzi’s expected move to URA FC will see him reunite with head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, who worked with him at Express FC during the final stages of last season. The reunion could provide the midfielder with an opportunity to play a more central role as he looks to rediscover his best form and make a significant impact at his new club.
URA FC have been among the active clubs in the transfer market as they continue rebuilding their squad ahead of the new season. The Tax Collectors have already completed the signings of midfielder Muhammed Kyeyune from Entebbe UPPC and experienced forward Elvis Ssekajugo from Express FC.
The club is also believed to be monitoring further additions from Express FC, with goalkeeper Hafiz Kassim and midfielder Mikdad Ssenyonga reportedly close to making the switch to URA FC.
The potential arrivals underline the Tax Collectors’ ambition to assemble a competitive squad capable of challenging for honours in the upcoming Uganda Premier League campaign.
