Record Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of prolific striker Isaac Gumperom, who has signed a four-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Gumperom capped off a remarkable 2025/26 campaign by winning the FUFA Big League Golden Boot after netting an impressive 17 league goals. His consistent goalscoring exploits were instrumental in Young Elephants Academy FC’s successful season and earned him widespread recognition as one of Uganda’s most exciting attacking talents.

His move to SC Villa signals the club’s ambition to rebuild a formidable attacking force as preparations intensify for the new season. The Jogoos view the highly-rated striker as a player capable of adding firepower, depth, and healthy competition in the final third.

The signing comes at a crucial time for the club following the departure of several influential players. Striker Charles Lwanga has joined KCCA FC on a free transfer, while fellow forward Hassan Mubiru completed a move to Tanzanian outfit Azam FC.SC Villa have also parted ways with defender Elvis Ngonde, who also signed for KCCA FC, while Diego Missi Ssemugera has secured a transfer to Kitara FC as the club continues to reshape its squad.

Gumperom is the second player to arrive at Villa Park during the ongoing transfer window after the signing of midfielder John Assimwe from Express FC, highlighting the club’s intent to strengthen key areas before the start of the campaign.

Head coach Kovacevic Zeljko will be hoping the latest additions can elevate the team’s performances as the record champions set their sights on reclaiming the Uganda Premier League title.

The Jogoos finished third in the 2025/26 league standings after collecting 61 points from 30 matches, ending the campaign six points behind eventual champions Vipers SC.With an impressive goalscoring record and growing reputation, Gumperom now steps onto a much bigger stage.

SC Villa supporters will be optimistic that the Golden Boot winner can seamlessly adapt to the top flight and play a pivotal role in the club’s pursuit of silverware during the 2026/27 season.
