Ivan Asaba, whose journey through Ugandan football has been marked by notable achievements and potential, has been out of the limelight since departing from Vipers SC at the beginning of the last season. His time as a free agent has now come to an end, as he joins the ranks of the Prison Warders with hopes of rejuvenating his career. Asaba’s football journey is one of dedication and continuous improvement. He honed his skills at Kibuli SS and St. Mary’s Kitende, two institutions renowned for their contributions to Ugandan football. His talent was evident early on, leading him to feature prominently for the KCCA Soccer Academy and the Vipers Junior Team in the FUFA Junior League. These formative years were crucial in developing his technical abilities and understanding of the game.

The 21-year-old has previously played for Vipers SC from 2020 to 2023, where he won the Uganda Premier League (UPL), having joined from KCCA FC in 2020. Internationally, Asaba has represented Uganda with distinction. He was part of the Uganda Hippos team that won the maiden CECAFA U-20 title in 2020 and reached the finals of the 2021 African U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania. Additionally, he featured for the Uganda U-17 national team, showcasing his talent on the continental stage at various age levels.
