Maroons FC pulled off a remarkable 4-2 turnaround against UPDF FC at Luzira Prisons ground, wrapping up the first round on a triumphant note in a nail-biting six-goal showdown.

The visitors, spearheaded by Faridi Rashid, took an early lead with a swift 9th-minute strike, only for Edward Kabona to level the playing field in the 24th minute.

The home crowd erupted when Fred Amaku seized the lead in added time of the opening period.Maroons’ skipper, David Ndihabwe, added to the thrill in the 59th minute with a deflected effort, extending their lead.

However, Faridi Rashid wasn’t ready to back down, cutting the deficit for UPDF FC with his second goal in the 64th minute.

In a heart-stopping moment with just five minutes left in normal time, Abel Eturude dashed UPDF FC’s hopes of a comeback by netting the fourth goal for the hosts. Maroons clinched the victory, securing third place with 28 points, while UPDF FC concluded the first round languishing second from the bottom with a mere 9 points.
