Olila HS WFC came from behind to earn a 2-1 home win over Rines SS WFC thanks to Biira Nadunga’s second-half penalty and a late goal from Cecilia Apiding in an entertaining end to end FUFA Women Super League match played on 2nd October 2022 in Soroti, maintaining their 100% start to the season.

After a goalless first stanza, the venue was stunned into silence in the 69th minute when Rines SS WFC’s Aminah Nababi gave the visitors a shock lead moments after being brought on for her first game of the 2022/2023 FUFA Women Super League campaign having missed their first and second game of the season versus Uganda Martyrs and UCU Lady Cardinals FC respectively.

The crowd were getting anxious as the hosts were wasteful in possession, but the pressure never relented as they got penalty in the 73rd minute which Crested Cranes defender Biira Nadunga converted with a superb finish into the bottom corner to level the scores.

The end to end game wasn’t over until the 86th minute when Apiding Cecilia slotted home to put the hosts in the lead and eventually registered their second victory of the season to take their tally to six points from two games.

Meanwhile, the 2-1 defeat to Olila means its two away defeats on the spin , zero point from the possible nine and three losses in a row for Rines SS WFC who survived relegation last season.

Elsewhere, defending champions She Corporate FC failed to negotiate past a resilient Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC (1-1) in the FUFA Women Super League match played on 1st October 2022 at St Gerald’s Playground, Lubaga.

Jackline Nakasi scored for the Nakawa based side while Latifah Nakasi scored for Uganda Martyrs to take her tally to 3 goals in 2 games.

On the other hand, the table leaders (Kampala Queens) registered a 1-0 away victory over Makerere University WFC thanks to Hasifah Nassuna’s well taken free kick in the 15th minute in her first game at Kampala Queens.

In Masindi, Lady Doves registered their maiden victory of the season with a 2-0 home victory over Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC thanks to Resty Kobusobozi and Dorcus Kwikiriza’s half time strikes.
