The first FUBA Mini Basketball league for Primary Schools in the post Covid-era will tip-off on Saturday 18th this month after a lapse of two years.

This comes after the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) and Primary Schools Committee revealed the list of primary schools set to compete in this year’s U14 basketball league intended to make young boys and girls appreciate the value of sport or physical education and also develop basketball from the grassroots.

This league will be a great platform to a vast number of girls and boys to showcase their skills since schools from different parts of the country will be taking part in a league that will be played on three consecutive Saturdays.

Meanwhile , there is much excitement ahead of this year’s edition that has attracted a total of eleven primary schools from different parts of Uganda including debutants Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools and City Parents’ school.

“It’s an honour to represent an institution like Sir Apollo Kaggwa schools /City Parents’ school at the national level and I feel we are ready to give our best and represent our school well,”

“It’s an immense joy. I’m very, very happy. I’m also very grateful to the management and administration of Sir Apollo Kaggwa schools /City Parents’ school , our beloved teachers, parents and the coaching staff for giving us the opportunity to be part of this year’s mini basketball league,”

“It will be my first taste of it and I’m looking forward to the challenge.I’ve heard great things about the FUBA mini basketball league games in the past and I can’t wait to take part in one of them myself, “

“I believe it will be a great podium for us to showcase the skills and basics we’ve attained from the Sir Apollo Kaggwa schools / City Parents’ school talent development programme.”

The debutants are joined by Watoto Biira and Nation Changers who emerged winners of the first edition of the mini basketball tournament that was played at Nakasero Primary School between 28th July to 29th July 2018 after defeating Bright Parents Primary School and Watoto Biira to win the boys and girls finals respectively.

The aforementioned schools will also be joined by Exodus Schools, Apex Christian P/A, Watoto Hope,MST Junior Schools, Bright Parents, British School, Twin Brooks Primary school and Janan primary school for this year’s edition of the Fuba Mini basketball league for primary schools.

Match day one matches for both girls and boys will get underway on Saturday 18th June 2022 at Twin Brooks Primary School-Kiteezi (Gayaza) whilst match day two and match day three matches will be played on 25th June 2022 and 2nd July 2022 at Nakasero Primary School and Twin Brooks Primary school respectively.
