Gaston Sirino’s proposed transfer to Egyptian side Al Ahly SC from South African outfit Mamelodi Sundowns FC is off as the two African giants have failed to agree on a transfer fee.
The Uruguayan midfielder has been the object of the Egyptian side’s affection for most of the summer and have followed him quite closely .
But amidst the strong interest from the Egyptian giants, Mamelodi Sundowns FC have today announced that they have terminated discussions with Al Ahly SC as the two clubs are too far from each other on the transfer fee for the Uruguayan midfielder.
The two clubs have been in talks regarding the services of the Uruguayan playmaker in the last few weeks with Al Ahly keen to lure Sirino away from Sundowns but the Uruguayan midfielder will now stay at Chloorkop after the Brazilians and the player’s long-time admirers could not conclude a deal.
“The good relations between the President of Al Ahly, Mr. Mahmoud El Khatib, and the President of Mamelodi Sundowns Dr. Patrice Motsepe will continue the good relations between Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly but there is no point or purpose in continuing the discussions on Gaston Sirino,”
“Mamelodi Sundowns will continue releasing players to European, African and other football countries like it did for Percy Tau, Keagan Dolly, Bongani Zungu, Ivorian international Siaka Tiéné, and other players but the transfer fee must be competitive as Mamelodi Sundowns is consistently paying high internationally competitive transfer fees for the players that it acquires”

The much-maligned transfer for the 29-year-old midfielder who has been a revelation at Sundowns since arriving from South America in 2018 has ‘collapsed’ as a result of Pisto Masmome’s charges refusing to meet Sundown’s asking price of close to R92 million.
The Uruguayan midfielder has not played any league game for Sundowns this season after reportedly submitting his transfer request to join Al Ahly in a bid to reunite with his former coach Pitso Mosimane at Egyptian side.
However, basing on the latest development regarding his transfer, Sirino who still has four years remaining on his Sundowns contract will stay at Mamelodi Sundowns and he’s now expected to focus on his football and compete for a starting position at the South African outfit .
