Newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League side, Kitara FC will renew their search for a long overdue first win of the season when they face hosts Vipers SC today at St.Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
The pride of Bunyoro have picked up just one point from their opening three games -scoring twice and conceding a total of eleven goals in their maiden StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign.
On the other hand, the Venoms have not had things all their own way either this term but, despite getting knocked out of this year’s Caf Champions League at the preliminary round by Al Hilal Omdurman and sitting in a relatively low position, they are at least still in the hunt and sit ten points off the top of the table with three games in hand.
For Kitara, the picture looks more and more bleak with each passing matchday in their maiden top flight campaign, whereas hopes of a successful campaign for Vipers with a focus on defending their StarTimes Uganda Premier League triumph seems to grow almost every time they take to the field at the moment although Fred Kajjoba’s men have struggled with their decision-making in the final third.
Coming into this fixture, the Hoima based Kitara FC have not registered a win in their first three games in their maiden top flight campaign and will be looking to improve on their last outing here after a 5-0 loss at home in their previous game against Police Football Club.
Kitara haven’t exactly had impressive attacking statistics in their previous league games. Their goal scoring record stands at just 2 goals versus opposing sides during the course of their first three StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixtures,in those meetings, the Hoima boys have also seen the number of goals scored against them total 11.
Meanwhile, following on from a 1:1 stalemate last time out versus Wakiso Giants in their first game of the 2020-2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign ,Vipers and their ambitious fans will hope for a better result here.
It has been a rare occasion in recent times where Vipers haven’t conceded. The facts show that the venoms have been scored against in all their previous 3 matches, leaking 3 goals during that time versus AL Hilal Omdurman (HOME), Al Hilal Omdurman (AWAY) and Wakiso Giants (AWAY).
Today’s clash at St.Mary’s Stadium Kitende will be the first time that the Venoms will be taking on the Hoima based outfit in the league. However, the first game featuring the two was a Uganda Cup Match in 2017 which saw Vipers eliminate Kitara FC after a 3:1 away win in Hoima.
Vipers SC will also welcome part of their supporters (200 seasonal ticket holders) back to st. Mary’s Stadium for the first time in nine months
