The defending champions, Vipers SC, experienced a setback in their pursuit of maximum points, as they settled for a goalless draw against newcomers NEC FC at Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, following a midweek victory over Express FC.
This stumble by Vipers SC was met with jubilation by their close rivals in the title chase, many of whom emerged triumphant on a dramatic Super Saturday. In a regional derby in Njeru, Bul FC clinched a late 1-0 win over resilient Gaddafi FC, maintaining their grip on the top spot with 52 points.
The drama continued to unfold as Kitara claimed a thrilling 3-2 home victory against Busoga United in Masindi. The newcomers displayed remarkable resilience, coming from two goals down to snatch all three points. Heroes of the day included Brian Aheebwa, Frank Tumwesigye, and Kabon Living, who cancelled out earlier strikes from Bashuma Mugwa and Emmanuel Ajo.
With just one point behind leaders Bul FC and two games left in the 2023/2024 campaign, Kitara FC now finds themselves in a tantalizing position in the title race.In Bombo, SC Villa secured a crucial 2-0 win against relegation-threatened UPDF, courtesy of goals from Patrick Jonah Kakande and Hakim Kiwanuka. This victory propelled the record holders to third place on the table, level on points with Kitara FC at 51.
