By : Brian Sentuuya || In a riveting display of skill and determination, SC Villa secured a well-deserved victory over Mbarara City with a final score of 2-1 in a highly anticipated football match held at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
The encounter, filled with moments of exhilaration and suspense, left spectators on the edge of their seats as both teams showcased their prowess on the field.
The opening moments of the match set the tone for an intense battle, with SC Villa demonstrating their offensive capabilities early on. It was Umar Lutalo who drew first blood for Villa, expertly converting a free-kick opportunity to give his team the lead and ignite the crowd with excitement.
However, Mbarara City refused to be outdone, mounting a spirited comeback as Henry Kitegenyi capitalized on a chance just before halftime to level the score, sending fans into a frenzy of cheers and applause.
As the second half unfolded, both sides fought fiercely for control of the game, with each team creating opportunities to break the deadlock. It was not until the closing stages of the match that SC Villa managed to seize the moment, with Hakim Kiwanuka delivering a stunning goal that ultimately proved to be the winner, securing a crucial victory for his team.
With this triumph, SC Villa solidifies their position in the league standings, climbing to third place with 39 points. Despite trailing leaders Kitara by five points, who have played two more games, Villa’s impressive performance reaffirms their status as formidable contenders in the race for the title.
