The 2022-23 StarTimes Uganda Premier Premier League season is down to the wire as SC Villa, Vipers SC and KCCA FC will fight it out on the final matchday for the ultimate glory.

This season has seen the three frontrunners set a big gap between themselves and fourth placed Arua Hill and despite their inconsistencies, SC Villa, Vipers SC and KCCA FC have been battling it out neck and neck for Uganda Premier League glory in one of the most thrilling and dramatic title races in history.

All the aforementioned front-runners remain in contention for the prize as just two points separate them in the table. However , Jackson Magera’s side has the advantage heading into the final round of fixtures.

Kcca FC and Vipers SC’s draw against Busoga United and BUL FC respectively , has left the door open for SC Villa to stop Vipers SC from defending the league title.

A 1-0 victory against Blacks Power FC on Tuesday moved SC Villa two points ahead of both Vipers and KCCA FC at the top of the table and a victory in their last match of the season, at home vs URA FC on Saturday 27th May 2023 at Wankulukuku, would secure the title.

Both KCCA FC and Vipers SC could finish the season on 53 points but that still wouldn’t be enough for each to clinch the league title from SC Villa , should they win their final game against Uganda Revenue Authority football club (URA FC) and be crowned UPL champions on 55 points.

MUST KNOW AHEAD OF FINAL MATCHDAY

  • Heading into the final day of play, SC Villa has a two-point lead in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race.
  • SC Villa will host URA FC Saturday 27th May 2023 , while KCCA FC and Vipers SC will host Bright Stars and Busoga United FC respectively in their final match at the exact same time.
  • The scenario is fairly simple: if SC Villa wins, they claim another Uganda Premier League title. But if they draw or lose, both Vipers SC and KCCA FC can overtake them with a win of their own.
  • It’s also possible – though highly unlikely – that SC Villa could clinch the title with a loss against URA FC if both Vipers and KCCA FC lose or draw their respective games.
