
Uganda Netball Federation President Hon Sarah Babirye Kityo has been remanded to Luzira prison by Buganda Road Court on charges of obtaining 16 million shillings by falsely pretending to take people to United States.
Babirye’s accusers include a mother, Sarah Wamala who cliams she she paid eight million shillings Kityo to take her son overseas and a and Gloria Kikomeko Nantambi who says that she also paid Babirye another eight million shillings to take her .
Babirye is jointly charged with a businesswoman Zainab Namutebi for offences committed in May 2022 in Kampala .
The duo has pleaded not guilty to two counts of obtaining money by false pretences before Grade One magistrate Siena Owomugisha.
They have been remanded to prison until 17th May 2023 for purposes of hearing thier bail application.

For starters, Kityo was of recent told by the Minister of Education education and Sports and first Lady Janat Kataha Museveni to step aside from office for three months, extended from the initial two months upon the request of NCS due to budgeting reasons and the directive placed Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso as the interim President of the federation, which is currently preparing the She Cranes for the Netball World Championships.

Elsewhere , Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi and former Accountant Lydia Namuleme have been handed to Police CID by Public Accounts Committee on ‘allegations of forgery and uttering false documents’ .
