Kawemp Muslim Ladies FC midfielder Shakirah Nyinagahirwa was crowned the 2022/23 Fufa Women Super League Player of the Season.
The midfielder was recognised with the prestigious prize for the first time after an outstanding campaign during which she has played a key role to lift the league record champions to second place shrugging off a challenge from fierce rivals Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga and UCU Lady Cardinal FC.
Nyinagahirwa notched a career-best 12 league goals and 7 assists, proving herself as the woman for the big occasion with crucial strikes against Uganda Martyrs, UCU Lady Cardinals FC among others.
Her exceptional form saw her come out on top in the FUFA Women Super League golden boot race ahead of Kampala Queen’s Resty Nanziri, UCU’s Ashiat Naluggwa and teammate Hadijah Nandago.
Elsewhere, Kampala Queens’ custodian Daisy Nakaziro emerged as the best goalkeeper after keeping 9 clean sheets from 12 games and conceding just thrice while 2020/2021 Fufa women super league champions Lady Doves FC walked away with the Fair Play award.
