Buganda Region representatives, Bombo UMEA Primary school were crowned the champions of the Inaugural Girls’ version of the FUFA Odilo Primary Schools Championship on Thursday.

To achieve the fate, the Luweero based school edged their counterparts Habanom Quality Primary School on penalties following a goalless draw in the final played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru .

Halima Mupyangu , Lillian Nabukeera, and Edith Nakiseka converted their respective penalty kicks but their conversions were not enough to guide Habanon to victory after Jenifer Onyango and Trinah Nakawuki failed to covert theirs.

On the other hand, Meble Adong, Hasina Babirye (captain) , Gertrude Nanteza, and Sarah Tambula converted their respective penalty kicks to ensure that Bombo UMEA Primary School is penned down in the history books as the first winners of the competition.

Bombo UMEA’s Assistant Coach Jessica Namanda attributed their success to hard work and the high level of discipline exhibited by the players before and during the tournament.

‘We have worked hard for this tournament and we are glad that our hard work has paid off. Also, our players have been highly disciplined. I am slightly older than them but they always respected me and followed the instructions given.” Said an excited Namanda as quoted by fufa.co.ug

The two finalists Habanom Quality and Bombo UMEA Primary School will represent Uganda in the forthcoming FEASSA games in Arusha (Tanzania) both receiving full funding from FUFA.

Meanwhile, Nyakatooma III Primary School registered a 2-0 victory over Arua based Oasis Primary School to take the third position thanks to Nuwasiima Aglyne and Ahimbisibwe Susan’s strikes.
