Kampala Queens and Uganda Crested Cranes midfielder Shamirah Nalugya has set her sights on transferring her club form to the national team.

The midfielder who scored five goals for Kampala in the just concluded FUFA Women Super League campaign is part of the Crested Cranes team preparing for the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Women Championship that will be held in Uganda at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

The former Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC midfielder believes it is time to make her mark on the national team and also impress the coaches.

“I’m happy to be part of the Senior national team set up and it is an opportunity for me to impress the coaches and be able to achieve the set targets,"

“Despite not winning the League, I believe my performance was impressive at the club and my hope is that I keep the same display on the National Team.” - Shamirah Nalugya disclosed

Nalugya was part of Crested Cranes Squad that featured at the 2019 CECAFA edition and believes the team is more experienced and ready to overcome any opponent.

“I played at CECAFA in 2019, scoring one goal. I believe we are now a better team and ready to face any team.” - the midfielder stressed

Uganda is in group A at the CECAFA Women’s Championship alongside Rwanda, Burundi and Djibouti.

The team is currently in camp at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru under the stewardship of coach George Lutalo.
