CECAFA regional qualifiers winners Vihiga Queens of Kenya revived their hopes of reaching semis of the inaugural Caf Women’s Champions league with a 2-0 win over Morocco’s AS FAR in the ongoing Caf Women’s Champions League at El Salam Stadium, Cairo on Wednesday.

After losing 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns courtesy of Melinda Kagadiete strike in the opening Group ‘B’ match on Saturday,the reigning CECAFA Regional Qualifiers winners were at their best and a goal in either half saw them temporarily climb to second on the table thanks to the historic win.

Violet Wanyonyi opened the scoring barely 8 minutes into the match for a 1-0 half time lead before turning provider with a good cross that Shikangwa deflected past the ASFAR goalkeeper for the Queens’ second goal in the 51st minute.

A win against Nigerian side Rivers Angels on Friday, will guarantee Vihiga Queens a smooth passage into the next round, should South African side Mamelodi Sundown contain AS-FAR in the last group B match.
